Board Meeting Minutes

 

August 12th, 2014

 

--Attendance: Carol Beckman, Paul Mead, Brian Van Valkenburg, Steve Bremner, Jim Strub, Bob Bunch

 

--June minutes approved (after change made)

 

--Ascent and Marathon table

            --Susan said she would do Friday morning, but need confirmation. Brian will bring materials, flyers.

            --Carol and Jim D. will do Friday evening—Bob Bunch can help

            --Brian will do 3 PM – 7 PM Saturday

 

--Spur trail mitigation

            --Meet at Tajine Alami at 5:30 PM

 

--Iron Mountain Trail

            --Signage, presumably coming once it’s complete

 

--No Trace date

            --People gave dates they can’t attend

 

--Giving Beer at Trinity

            --Dates available Wednesdays in October, November

 

--Annual Dinner, Nov 8th, Saturday

 

--Board Retreat, Nov 15th at Jim’s

 

--Tool Cleaning, Coordinate with Eric, late October

 

--Projects

            --Age limits, we agreed on 16 with signed waiver, 13 minimum age with adult supervision, age 13-15 only one per guardian

 

--Insurance

            --Steve will contact Bill Koerner, who set up the insurance for the Incline Friends. He thinks it cost $500 a year or so.

 

--Crew Leader T-Shirts

            --Carol gave out some to the board members

 

--Bridge out on Crags Trail (3rd hand info)           

            --Carol will contact Forest Service and ask that campground caretaker take a look

           

--Steve will get something in writing from Manitou Springs, that use of the Reservoir Road is open to hikers/bikers

 

--Round table

            --Jim Strub—The Summit houses will be torn down—Jim is on the Summit Advocacy Group with nine people to advise on the project to redo the Summit

 

            --Paul Mead—Ice Cave Creek Project is complete

 

            --Bob Bunch—Has not received any trail reports from trail scouts, but he compiled a list of problems from emails which he provided a copy of to the board

 

            --Carol Beckman—the downed trees on the trails on Barr Trail and Elk Park Trail have been removed. She received a “giant check” from the Barr Trail Mountain Race for upwards of $2,000. Somebody contacted her about a scheme to have people shine mirrors at runners during the Ascent and Marathon.

 

--Projects

            --September 6th, Barr Trail, Adaman Crew

                        --Fence work—Brian thinks there are six full days of work on upper trail, below Noname Creek.

            --Discussion of who will plan the work day?
