Projects on Barr Trail

Saturday, May 31, 2014, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
It's a long day but a project you won't want to miss.  The Pikes Peak Cog Railway is saving space for 15 volunteers in the 8 a.m. train.  The group will ride up and unload at Mountain View, then walk over to Barr Camp.  We'll improve drainage and repair damage on the trail near Barr Camp.  The Cog will pick up the volunteers on the train passing Mountain View at 3:55.  What a great way to reach the work area.

Saturday, August 9, 2014, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Meet at east end of Memorial Pak in Manitou Springs, near Tajine Alami parking lot, at 7:20 a.m.
The focus for this project is to remove slip and trip hazards for the runners in the upcoming Ascent and Marathon.  So we'll be removing exposed roots and rocks sticking up on the trail and other hazards.  We might do some other trail work while we're there.

Saturday, September 6, 2014, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
We'll improve drainage and repair erosion damage.  We might also replace a few fence posts.

The free Manitou shuttle should be running for all the Barr Trail projects.  Volunteers can park in the free lot behind Tajine Alami, on Old Mans Trail on the east side of Memorial Park, then catch the shuttle on the other side of Old Mans Trail.

As for most trail projects, bring water, lunch, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, rain gear, clothing layers, and anything else you would commonly bring on a hike.
