Project on the Crags trail to the summit below Devil's Playground.
The trail from the Crags area to the summit of Pikes Peak is increasingly popular. A section of the trail below Devil's Playground has severe erosion. Volunteers will work to repair and stabilize the trail and prevent future erosion problems. The hike in to the work area, at about 12,500 feet, is about 1 mile from the Pikes Peak Highway. Volunteers meet at 7:15 a.m. and should be back to their cars around 4 or 4:30, weather depending.
Volunteers will meet at Red Rock open space and carpool from there to drive up the Pikes Peak Highway to the parking area at Devil's Playground and hike in from there.
As with most trail projects, bring water, lunch, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, rain gear, clothing layers, and anything else you would commonly bring on a hike.
