Project on the Crags trail to the summit of Pikes Peak.

Saturday, August 22

Work will be on an area below the summit boulder field, at around 13,000 feet.  Volunteers will work to repair and stabilize the trail, close and restore switchback cuts, and prevent future erosion problems.  Be prepared for the altitude and colder weather.

Volunteers meet at 7:15 a.m. to carpool and should be back to their cars around 4 or 4:30, weather depending.  We'll carpool to drive up the Pikes Peak Highway to a pullout near the work area and hike in from there.  The trail is a short hike from the Highway.

Meet at the main parking lot for Red Rock Canyon Open Space off U.S.24/Cimarron.

As with most trail projects, bring water, lunch, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, rain gear, clothing layers, and anything else you would commonly bring on a hike.
