Project by Severy Creek to collect and disperse seeds
Saturday, August 29
A joint project with Rocky Mountain Field Institute. RMFI has been working to restore areas damaged by sediment runoff from Pikes Peak Highway. This year, they invited Friends of the Peak to join them. Volunteers will collect native seed and disperse it to help areas recover. The hike in is about 2 miles (4 miles round trip) starting at about 11,000 feet.
Volunteers will meet at RMFI's office, 815 S 25th, near 26th & U.S. 24, at 6:30 a.m. and carpool from there to drive up the Pikes Peak Highway to the parking area, and should return to RMFI by 3:30 p.m.
As with most trail projects, bring water, lunch, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, rain gear, clothing layers, and anything else you would commonly bring on a hike.
