Pondering Pikes Peak

VOTE!

I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of our members. You raised $925 in support of the TOPS initiative. This is a good example of voting with your pocketbook. Now, we need to follow that up with getting out to the polls and voting for initiative 1A.

I was amused by the information distributed by the City clerk about this initiative. I thought the arguments presented against this measure were the best arguments for it, I have ever heard. I don’t have the paperwork in front of me, but the arguments went something like this: If we had not had this tax, the Stratton Open Space, and the Big Johnson area would be developed by now to house our growing population. If we don’t continue the tax, the Red Rock Canyon will be available for development. And lastly, the tourists pay 40% of this tax. To me, these are some of the best reasons for this initiative. So, remember, even if you normally do not bother to vote in local elections, this election is important. Get out and vote in favor of the TOPS initiative extension.
